The antique wooden cookie mold began it's journey in Czechoslovakia and was one of the few possessions owned by a man who once baked for the nobility. He fled the country during the war, bringing what little he had to the United States. In 1976, he met Mary Webb who had opened her bakery "Crumble Station" in Sudbury, Massachusetts. Mary was intrigued by his description of the the cookie mold and purchased it from him, sight unseen. Since then "the boy on a reindeer" has watched over Mary's bakeries and shops; Crumble Station until 1986, The Sweet Patch in Newbury, NH from 1990-2001, The Rolling Pin in Warner, NH from 2003-2008 and now, back in Newbury again at The Rolling Pin since 2009. The rich history of the cookie mold is evident in the flour that is still imbedded in the wood after years of use. The care that Mary has given to preserve its condition and its story are a testament to her love of cooking and baking.
